Rob Zombie’s: The Munsters (2023)

I use a skull and crosses, rating system, where one is the lowest ranking and three is the highest in each category. Crosses judge quality and acting/plot believability, while skulls relate to chills, thrills, and basic horror elements.

1.8 Skulls; 2.4 Crosses

This film may not be suitable for all viewers as it caters to a specific fan base of Rob Zombie’s work. While it has been criticized heavily, it may not be as bad as some may think. The acting may not be considered well-done by some standards, but it appears to be intentional and suits the style of the film. The horror elements are present but may not be up to par with expectations, with cheap horror tactics used throughout. The film’s consistency in dialogue and horror may be noteworthy. When compared to the original TV series, some characters in the film may lack the same composure as their TV counterparts. The movie may have drawn out certain scenes unnecessarily. In conclusion, it is not recommended to watch this movie, but if you do, it is suggested to approach it as a fun experience rather than a serious one.

I agree. there was a lot of time spent on the back story of Herman Munster, which, frankly, I did not need. Lilly had a werewolf as a brother (how??) and the periodic anime-esque approaches were off putting. Like when Lilly sees Herman for the first time, its just her, grasping hands, fawning, panting and blinking her eyes; the background is wiggle lies and animated beating hearts. If only this was the only time something like that happened. The movie was like where a live action cartoon meets with a trainwreck. You didn’t ask for it to happen, you hate it happened, but it did, and now you can’t look away.

So, I watched it based on this review. The best thing I can say about Rob Zombie’s Munsters is that in the previews, it made Joker look like it would be a good movie. It wasn’t, but the preview was GREAT!
