A Journey of Imagination and Adventure

Seventeen years ago, a spark ignited a flame that has been burning brightly ever since. Founded in 2007, Scaldcrow Games officially launched at Origins in Ohio with its first product, “The Dark Fantasy of Sundrah.” Today, we celebrate not just the anniversary of a company, but the passion, creativity, and boundless imagination that has fueled our journey.

To truly understand Scaldcrow Games, one must first understand its creator. My name is T. Glenn Bane, and I have been playing tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) since I was nine years old. Now in my fifties, my love for the game remains as strong as ever, despite the changes in titles and genres over the years. Growing up in the small town of Robbins, North Carolina, I found something magical in escaping the tiny confines of my reality and stepping into impossible worlds filled with mind-bending plots. Back then, there was no internet or advanced technology—Pac-Man and Space Invaders were the digital craze. The best friends I ever made were those who joined me in my games.

As I grew older, my circle expanded, and I eventually wrote my first game book. I was fortunate enough to recruit a group of gamers from a local shop named “Cosmic Castle,” forming “Team Castle.” Aaron, Ben, Darryl, Kelley, Paul, Rob, and Tom were the foundation of the company’s early days. Before and along the way, many others enriched my journey. Every player who has stepped into my games is part of an ever-growing, extended family whom I hold dear.

The Scaldcrow Games philosophy: ‘Smaller Rules Equals Bigger Gaming’ is the very foundation of our innovative approach to pen-and-paper role-playing games that transport players of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels into unforgettable adventures. Each game we create is meticulously developed to provide hours of enjoyment, lingering long after the game is over.

As we commemorate our 17th anniversary, we reflect on the journey that has brought us here and look forward to the future. Our ultimate goal is to continuously pioneer new worlds and break boundaries, offering gamers worldwide unique entertainment experiences as we evolve into something greater. The games I create are for everyone—then and now. If I can give any of you a chance to go somewhere new and do something exciting, then I have achieved a significant goal. Rest assured, though, my journey does not end here. I always have one more story to tell, and you will be a part of it.
