250 years of America. 19 years of Scaldcrow Games. One unforgettable birthday.

Today we stand shoulder to shoulder with the nation we're proud to share a birthday with. It's humbling — a small company of storytellers, dice, and dreamers, born on the same day as the land we call home.

For nearly two decades, we've built worlds where courage is tested, shadows are faced, and heroes are forged at the table. That's no accident. The same spirit that lit the founding fires still burns in every adventure we create — and in every one of you who answers the call.

To our active military, veterans, uncountable patriots, and the to the memory of those who came before: thank you. Your sacrifice and ongoing bravery made this celebration possible. The freedom and liberty to gather, to imagine, to play.

And to the Scaldcrow community: thank you for the heroic heart of adventure that beats in each of you. You are the reason our story continues.

So raise a glass, roll the dice, and celebrate loud. Here's to 250 years of a bold, brave nation — and 19 years of building legends alongside it.

The next chapter is yours to write.

Happy birthday, America. Happy birthday, Scaldcrow. Onward, heroes.

2026 is shaping up to be a thrilling year for Scaldcrow Games! We’re tipping our hats to our earliest creations and diving back into the gaming experiences that first lit the spark for us. Fueled by the storylines that made those adventures unforgettable, we’re bringing that same sense of wonder, danger, and excitement forward—reimagined to be even more exhilarating for you.

Upcoming Events

Well, Wyvacon 2026 is behind me. I do a lot of events, and this one is the closest to me geographically, but it also has something some of the larger events have been gradually losing. New fans who are trying out new things, without expectation of what it will be, but rather an interest in what it could be. It is a ground zero event where open-minded people may find something that will fuel their imagination ongoing. Those events are less common than you might event. High vendor prices and higher ticket prices in many larger events start to close the doors on people who just want to find out. I love some of those larger events, but I know what my likes are, so I already know what to expect. I'm going to speak a little more about this on Wednesday's Geek Opera Worlds and Wednesdays,

If you missed Wyvacon make plans for the next one. Its small, but dedicated. I will, for sure be there.

MAZES & MONDAYS

Mazes & Mondays: 10 Races of Myth

By Glenn Bane

Every game master knows the moment. A player opens the core rulebook, scans the same worn-out ancestry list, and lets out a long sigh. Another elf. Another dwarf. Another half-orc named something that ends in “-gorn.” The classics have their place, but the myths of Greece, Japan, Scotland, Ireland, and the Anglo-Saxon world are packed with beings far stranger and more playable than the standard lineup.

Tactical Tuesday

Tactical Tuesdays: The Last Fare

By Glenn Bane

A moving vehicle is a scene with a built-in clock. It starts, it stops, and between those stops nobody gets off. That’s a pressure cooker. Whatever happens on board has to resolve before the doors open again, and every character in the car is trapped in it together — including your players.

Worlds & Wednesdays

Worlds & Wednesdays: Roots of the Game

By Glenn Bane

Big publishers do incredible work, and I’m grateful for them. They built the roads we all walk on. But a healthy hobby doesn’t run on a handful of giants. It runs on hundreds of voices, each one weird and specific and alive.

52 Weeks of Halloween

52 Weeks: Lie Still

By Glenn Bane

As the tale progresses, the audience is drawn ever deeper into a labyrinth of flesh, bone, secrets, and dread. I eventually felt pressed not only into the flesh-chilling details of this fable

Frights & Fables

Frights & Fables: Halloween Party Feast

By Glenn Bane

This is the second Halloween guide we’ve put together for your gaming group. If you missed the first, track down Danny’s Rock’n Halloween Gaming Night in the Geek Opera Index — it’s a great companion piece focused on the gaming side of your evening. This guide covers the table: the food, the fun, and the atmosphere that makes a gothic Halloween party unforgettable.
