“I can come in anytime I want. And I can get you anytime I want. But I’m not going to. Not until it’s time.” – John Gallagher Jr. as The Man.
In the shadowy depths of the night, Hush emerges as a chilling tale of survival and suspense. Directed by the masterful Mike Flanagan, this film weaves a tapestry of terror that grips the audience from the very first frame. The story unfolds in a secluded woodland home, where Maddie Young, a deaf-mute author portrayed with haunting vulnerability by Kate Siegel, finds herself ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse.
The production, brought to life by Blumhouse Productions, is a testament to the power of minimalist horror. The silence that envelops Maddie’s world is both her greatest ally and her most formidable foe. John Gallagher Jr. delivers a spine-chilling performance as the masked intruder, whose presence is as menacing as the darkness itself.
Flanagan’s direction is impeccable, crafting a narrative that is both relentless and intimate. The tension is palpable, the fear tangible, as Maddie uses her wits and resilience to outmaneuver her tormentor. The supporting cast, including Michael Trucco and Samantha Sloyan, add depth to the story, their performances enhancing the film’s eerie atmosphere.
Hush is a masterclass in suspense, a symphony of silence that echoes long after the credits roll. It is a film that reminds us that true horror lies not in the screams, but in the quiet moments that precede them.

This is one I hadn’t planned on seeing but after that review I guess now I must.
